The UAE has started issuing travel visas for travellers who have been fully vaccinated from all countries from 30 August. This includes those from previously banned nations. The move comes a month before the Expo 2020 has been scheduled.
The country has made this decision also because the number of new cases in the region has dropped considerably in the recent months. They are reporting less than 1,000 cases a day for the last week. Their focus has now shifted “to achieve sustainable recovery and economic growth”, the official WAM news agency reported on Saturday.
The approved vaccines, however, include the ones approved by the World Health Organization, which are AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, Sinopharm and Sinovac.
Though passengers still need to comply with the rules regarding testing. Passengers arriving on tourist visas must take a mandatory rapid PCR test at the airport on arrival. The passengers also need to register their vaccination status on the government’s health app.
