After a hiatus of five years, the fourth instalment is all set for release this month. This action, adventure and thriller features a mix of the old and the new with Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Tom Wilkinson and Ving Rhames essaying various roles. This film also stars Anil Kapoor who’s made inroads into Hollywood post the stupendous success of Slumdog Millionaire. At the helm of this directorial ship is Oscar-winning animation director Brad Bird known for his films like ‘The Incredibles’ and ‘Ratatouille’ marks his debut in this action-adventure genre.
The film revolves around veteran IMF Ethan Hunt and his team as they work to clear the IMF name after the agency is unfortunately implicated in the bombing of the Russian Kremlin – an event that forces them to go into “ghost protocol,” a condition in which the agency has been disavowed.
According to screenrant.com, the preview footage seems to be interesting with a fresh take. “Early signs point to a fourth Mission: Impossible flick which utilises the best elements from its predecessors (ie. the conspiracy/mystery plot of Part 1, the hard-hitting martial arts action from Part 2, and the grand set pieces from Part 3) – with the intended effect being that Part 4 feels like a fresh and exciting spin on what this franchise has served up in the past.”
The trailer looks positively exciting with edge-of-the-seat and death defying stunts. The film is set to release on IMAX and non-IMAX screens on Dec 16 and Dec 21 respectively.
