Cubbon Pavilion, in ITC Gardenia, would make its namesake, British Commissioner Sir Mark Cubbon mighty happy. The man responsible for a good portion of the city’s sprawling gardens and tree-lined avenues, one can almost imagine his approving nod as he takes in the lushness of his surroundings, a dedication to his legacy of greenery almost 200 years down the line.

Cubbon-PavilionThe showpiece of the 24-hour fine dining restaurant is its vertical garden, a stretch of greenery that occupies an entire wall and climbs up to the 12th floor. Varying shades of green decorate the luscious expanse, and a high-tech irrigation system ensures that each of the plants get ample amounts of moisture.

The interiors are composed of clean, simple silhouettes. Minimalist furniture offsets modern chandeliers of ample proportions, while decorative plants provide natural accents.

While the a la carte menu is full of specialities and popular coffee shop fare, the buffets here, which boast a spread that includes Indian, Continental, and Far Eastern dishes, is what draws the crowds. Sushi features in the starters, as does an array of tikkas and kebabs. The main course has a selection of curries, breads, Indian or otherwise, and baked dishes. The dessert section has in store sweet endings like tiramisu, sweet rhubarb and pear tarts and payasam and jamuns for traditional taste buds. On Friday and Saturday nights, the Pavilion hosts the popular Breakfast at Midnight, featuring Indian signatures along with classic breakfast dishes from the East and West. Interesting food festivals add excitement at regular intervals.
