The Longest Bar

The-Longest-Bar-in-the-CounEscobar’s name speaks volumes about the place.

Derived from a common Spanish last name, it alludes to its South American feel, and the last three letters seem fitting as it houses the longest bar in the country (77ft). The place has visually appealing dining and lounge spaces. Exotic design elements, wooden accents and warm, earthy tones are accentuated by mood lighting and aromatic oils. Escobar can easily accommodate 50-60 people for a seated dinner and 350-400 people as a standing crowd. The seating at Escobar has been designed as a fine dine set-up with plush white French leather sofas and long wooden tables. Music here is a compilation of lounge and world music.

The owners, Vardhaman and Rushabh Choksi feel, “Dining at Escobar means removing yourself from the frenzy of urban life and plunging into a rejuvenating bath.”

The food is Mediterranean. Recommended light bites that work well with Kingfisher or the range of cocktails include Harissa Prawns (hot chili pepper marinated tiger prawns cooked on charcoal fire), Black Pepper Mushrooms (crisp mushrooms tossed in Thai-style black pepper sauce) and Clay Oven Roasted Chicken. Signature cocktails that are available here are Margarita De La Cartagena, Godfather, mimosas and sangrias, while signature mocktails include Virgin Mojitos and Virgin Caipirinha. The place also offers a variety of dishes for the main course, such as Fresh Herb Spiked Lasagna, Herb-crusted Lamb Shank with Red Wine, Burnt Garlic & Thyme rubbed BBQ chicken and Char Grilled Salmon with Gremolata and Lemon Butter Sauce. Of course, no meal is complete without trying out desserts such as Blueberry Cheesecake, Churros with hot chocolate sauce and Chocolate Ecstasy.

The place opened in January 2010, and has quickly become one of Mumbai’s hippest and trendiest spots after the sun goes down.
