One of the most annoying things that can happen to you while you’re having a drink or on the go, is having your phone battery die on you. The new Epiphany onE Puck, however, promises to put an end to that inconvenience. Resembling a thick coaster, the onE Puck can be used to charge your phone right at your barstool. Simply hook it up to your phone and place a cold beer on the blue side (or a hot cup of something on the red side) and watch as your device is slowly resurrected. The innovative gadget uses a Stirling engine to transmute heat disparities into electrical energy and puts out upto 1000 mA of current. Other features include a USB port (for universal charging) and a lightweight body.
According to Tom Joseph, CEO, Epiphany Labs, “Cellphone batteries die too fast. Charging them on the go is a pain. And a dead smartphone is a $500 paperweight. The Epiphany onE Puck will ensure that you can charge your phone anytime, anywhere”
Slated to be on sale by April this year, the onE Puck is still at the prototype stage and the developers are looking to the creative project funding initiative Kickstarter to help generate interest and raise money. When eventually launched the device will cost over $150. However, if you preorder the onE Puck from http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/epiphanylabs/epiphany-one-puck, you can get your hands on one for as little as $115.
