Counting the properties in Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara, the luxury holiday hotel brand is now operational at 4 locations in the state and 21 the world-over.
“With this opening, we endeavour to pioneer new and unique destinations. While Gir Forest needs no introduction, we feel that there is great scope to develop tourism and hospitality here. We are happy to have received support and encouragement from the state government and hope to grow and expand in the state”, said Mr. P. K. Mohankumar, Chief Operating Officer, The Gateway Hotel.
Situated at the banks of the Hiran River and surrounded by tropical thorn forests, the 28-room hotel houses a multi-cuisine restaurant, GAD and is ideal for guests looking for a quiet, peaceful holiday in lush woodlands. To enhance the ‘Jungle Experience’ the hotel will also provide safaris in an open Gypsy where guests can catch glimpses of the endangered Asiatic lions, leopards, jungle cats, cheetahs, four-horned antelopes and wild boars along with over 200 species of birds that the forest is sanctuary to. For those who prefer a cultural touch instead, the hotel is close to various temples such as the Somnath, Banej and Kankai Temple, and historical destinations such as Junagadh, Gondal and Rajkot.
In order to be sensitive to the rare ecosystem, the hotel has taken many efforts to be responsible and minimise its impact on the environment, including incorporating local flora in the hotel’s landscaping, thus creating a green zone to preserve these endangered and rare plant species which have been identified in partnership with Dr.Rasik Bhatt, Junagadh-based nature enthusiast.
