All Nippon Airways To Start Delhi-Tokyo Operations From

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has said that it will start non-stop daily flights from Delhi to Tokyo from October 29, 2012. The flight will depart at 1.25 am and arrive at Narita Airport at 12.50 pm. The airline will open bookings for flights from July 12, 2012 and ANA will use 767-300 ER aircraft on the route. Currently, ANA operates flights only from Mumbai. The airline said that the expansion in the Indian is part of a wider group corporate strategy to get a foothold in markets in Asia where there is still demand- supply mismatch as far as connectivity to the US market is concerned. “By expanding its route network in the growing Asian market, ANA aims to capitalise on the projected increase in demand for indirect flights between Asia and North America via Japan. This will allow ANA to accelerate the expansion of its international network, which is a key pillar of its FY2012-13 corporate strategy, and further strengthen ANA’s business model as a network carrier,” the airline said in a statement.
