The successful launch of the 500th Marriott hotel in the world – was the opening of Pune Marriott Post completion of 28 years with Marriott International overseas, Balan Paravantavida now moves into his new role as General Manger for JW Marriott Hotel Aero City, New Delhi. This 530 room property will mark Marriott India’s first foray in the dynamic, capital city of India., New Delhi.
With over 28 years of experience in handling pre-openings, conversions and takeovers of hotels in six countries, covering three continents, Balan brings with him a multitude of assets – strong operational background, cost control, concept development, multi property experience, MVCI property management and experience in business, convention and mega luxury resorts properties. Balan is also well versed with dealing with constructions, renovations and project management. He has also been a member of The American Culinary Federation and American Management Association.
Balan’s career with Marriott began in January 1984 at the Long Island Marriott as a Sous Chef. In 1985, after playing an important role in setting up the culinary operation of the Westchester Marriott, he moved to New York Marriott Marquis in June 1985 to be part of the biggest hotel opening for Marriott International. He has spent over 10 years at the Marriott Marquis and handled over six leadership positions at this fast paced luxury property. Balan has had the opportunity to work with Taj Coromandel, India, Hilton Hotel Dubai, Calgary Marriott Hotel, Calgary, Canada; Marriott Castle Harbor Resort – Bermuda, Bermuda; Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club & Ocean Club Resorts, Aruba; Aruba Marriott Resort, Stellaris Casino & MVCI Aruba Ocean Club Resort, Aruba and Princeton Marriott Hotel & Conference Centre, NJ.
