Berggruen Hotels Pvt Ltd, which owns and manages properties under the Keys Hotels brand, is aiming to launch a luxury brand under its portfolio. By targeting cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, and states like Goa, for this brand, the brand targets to operate 52 hotels by 2015. Presently, Berggruen Hotels has brands under business hotels (three- to four-star category, Keys Hotels); resorts (four- to five-star category, Keys Resorts); and serviced apartments (Keys Hotel & Serviced Apartments).
According to news reports, elaborating on the expansion and new category, Sanjay Sethi, Managing Director and CEO, Berggruen Hotels Pvt Ltd, said, “Berggruen Hotels is a holistic hotel company. We would like to offer a wide spectrum of brands under various segments to our management partners to be able to cater to all segments of travellers. And hence, we decided to foray into the luxury segment. We have not yet decided on the name of the brand; however, in a couple of months, we will be able to announce the same.” In addition, the Group is looking at operating 52 hotels (India and abroad) under its portfolio by 2015. “We are at advanced stages of discussion to manage hotels in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. This will be a mix of business hotels and resorts. The room inventory for these hotels will be 100 rooms and above,” Sethi added.
