Flight Bookings for Patna Discontinued on Jet Airways, Indigo, GoAir

Jet Airways, Indigo and Go Air have stopped all bookings to Patna from 16 August 2012 after a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding the short length of the runway at the Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport, Patna. The runway is not equipped to accommodate the landing of big aircrafts like Airbus 320 and Boeing 737. As mentioned in a news website, a station manager from an aviation company said, flyers who wish to cancel their booking will be refunded the full ticket amount. However, there have been no cancellations so far.

A letter sent by The Civil Aviation Department of Bihar, to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), to inform about the revised length of the runway at the Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport, Patna has not received any reply. “We had sent a letter to the DGCA on August 3, 2012 about the removal of obstructions identified by the Airports Authority of India (AAI),” Ravikant, Principal Secretary, Cabinet Co-ordination and State Civil Aviation Department, was quoted as saying in a news Daily.
