Hyatt Regency Kolkata Celebrated Earth Day

Hyatt Regency Kolkata recently celebrated Earth Day at Samaj Sadan Hall, with an interactive event. General Manager Marc Lorenz initiated the activity along with the Green Team members and employees of the hotel on April 22. This seminar – with the aim to create a community participative model for scientific management of municipal solid waste in the East Kolkata wetland – was jointly organised by Hyatt Thrive in collaboration with local organisation NEWS. The event saw participation from school students, the municipality, fishermen and local clubs. Hyatt Regency Kolkata and NEWS also planted 50 saplings in the nearby ground. Among those who participated in the were Devashis Jana, chairman-in-council- Bidhannagar municipality, Manas Ranjan Roy, senior scientist and deputy director of Chittaranjan National Cancer Research Institute and J R B Alfred, retired director of Zoological Survey of India. Dipak Mitra, renowned herpetologist, owner of Kolkata Snake Park and member of state wildlife board interacted with all who participated and provided information about snakes.
