So, once you’re done with those long-winded meetings, change into your shorts and tee and revel in the vibrant atmosphere at one of these fiestas, depending on which country you happen to be in.

Apple Hollow Music Fest

July 20-21

Franklin, Quebec, Canada

Celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Apple Hollow Music Fest in which almost hundred artistes performed over the last four years. Under the artistic direction of Terry Banjo you will get to hear musicians who are skilled and experienced. Some of the artistes who will be performing this year are Bobby Dove, Bruce Murdoch, Mike o’ Brien, Pat Loiselle, The Bombadils and more.  The festival originated with the musical evenings of Hollow Apple Orchards in McMillan. Also on display will be works of forged metal by Ashley Coute, Bob Comeau – sculptor specialising in Birds of Prey, jewellery by Lindsay Goodfellow and leather works by Leo Lepore.

Barcelona Festival of Song

July 1-7

Barcelona, Spain

The festival focusses on the history and interpretation of Spanish and Latin American vocal repertoire in Spanish, Brazilian and Portuguese Catalan. The festival presents concerts by well-known singers, pianists, guitarists and other participants. You might also get the opportunity to perform in two concerts in Barcelona. This year, there will be eight concerts with well-known artistes like pianists Daniel Ligorio and Donna Loewy, guitarist José Lezcano, tenor Lenine Santos and soprano Patricia Caicedo.  This project aims to impact the preservation and promotion of the musical heritage of Brazil, Catalonia and Spain. All performances are open to public and take place in venues located in Barcelona. There is no age limit for participation in this summer programme and festival.

Blobfest

July 13-15

Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA

Film geeks flock to Colonial theatre in Phoenixville where scenes from the 1958 film, Blob were filmed. There is a weekend long street party with a costume contest too. Also, there are live enactments from the cult film and film making contests.  On July 13, watch a performance by   Dr Frank N Stone and Ghoul-a-Go-Go. On the next day, catch the Fire Extinguisher Parade, Costume Contest, Facade Contest and screening of “ Blob and the Day the Earth Stood Still”, “Blob and Caltiki- The Immortal Monster”. All events at the Street Fair in the festival are free. There will be three screenings of “The Blob” on Saturday, with a additional screening on Sunday.

Caerleon Arts Festival

July 6-15

Caerleon, South Wales, UK

This will be the tenth Caerleon Arts Festival, featuring cinema, drama, literary activities and International sculpting. Watch an outdoor film screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. There will be live performances by Mike Harries Root Doctors. Literary weekends include rendezvous’ and talks with authors like Paul Flynn, Ben Ken, Catherine Fisher and Jon Gower.  There will be performances by the Crahart Blue Band, Male Voice Choir and Greg Pitchard. Watch the enactment of Richard III in the amphitheatre and also remember to visit the Arts & Crafts Market. Do not miss the works of sculptors Mandy Schmidt and Dominic Hurley. There will also be shows by Eveswell Celtic Group,  Shoostring – Appalachian Dancers  and Peel Your Own Spuds- A Celtic Irish band too.

Days of 47 Rodeo

July 19-24

Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

The 160-year-old heritage of rodeo in Utah comes alive again this year and has been rated among America’s top PRCA rodeos. World champion cowboys and cowgirls compete over $200,000 as they make their way to National Final Rodeos.   This is one of the highest glories for cowboys and cowgirls, with incredible performances every night. The festival is also packed with information devoted to the history of Rodeo and Days of 47 Celebration. Some of the events are KSF Family Kickoff Night, K- Bull Heroes Night with Jesse James, Z104 Pink Night with Farm, The Eagle Family Night and Xfinity Pioneer Night. The days of ’47 Rodeo was one of the first celebratory events by the early pioneers of the festival.
