Around 15 countries and over 20 Indian states participated in the The India International Travel Mart 2012, held in Bangalore recently. Inaugurated by Sri Anand Singh, Honourable Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Karnataka, the event was organised by “Sphere Travelmedia & Exhibitions” in association with Karnataka Tourism. Some of the International participants at IITM were Tourism Authority of Thailand and delegation, Poland Tourism, Carla Travel -Italy, Cox and Kings, Macau Tourism, Dubai Tourism and many more.
Sanjay Hakhu, Director, Sphere Travelmedia said, “The visitor profile is on a B2B & B2C format and will have over 15000 visitors over three days.” Rohit Hangal, Director, Sphere Travelmedia added “With the ongoing recession, international arrivals have dropped. India International Travel Mart provides the right impetus to the Indian domestic tourism industry.” He added, “Almost every part of India is present here right from the snow peaks of Himalayas in Jammu & Kashmir and Uttaranchal to Kanyakumari and the North East to deserts of Rajasthan and Gujarat.”
Hangal was appreciative of the role Explcity played in promoting Indian tourism. “Explocity also has been doing great service to the Travel & Tourism industry since it was conceptualised and through its online and print mediums gives information to visitors and residents in the cities to events, lifestyles and vacations.”
Different states showcased their popular tourist posts as well as promoted their handicrafts and received a good response from visitors. Representatives from Poland Tourism said “Travel Mart provides a good platform to cater to people from India and, like last year we are happy with the organisers, the crowd and the customers.”
