This marks a new phase for the rapidly-expanding Swiss hotel company, and has two floors dedicated exclusively to business travellers.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is set to launch its first property in India with the Mövenpick Hotel & Spa having already soft launched in Bangalore earlier this month. The stylish upscale hotel is set to cater to India’s fast growing business travel market and signs a new phase in the company’s strong expansion within Asia and the Indian subcontinent following marked growth in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “The Indian tourism sector is one of the fastest growing in the world and we are extremely excited about opening in Bangalore and entering the Indian market,” said Andreas Mattmüller, chief operating officer for Middle East & Asia.
The contemporary designed hotel offers five-star hospitality and is conveniently located near the main business districts of the city and is a 30-minute drive from the airport. Said Prem Joseph, Sales and Marketing, “Movenpick mainly caters to the business traveller, while the leisure aspect is the spa that is run by Sohum Spa, but it is primarily due to our location, which attracts the corporate clientele. We’re the closest 5 star hotel from the airport, whilst simultaneously being near to the heart of the city.”
Rooms, Service and Amenities:
It has 182 rooms including eight Executive Suites and one Presidential Suite. It also has two floors dedicated exclusively to business travellers located on the 10th and 11th floor. “The 10th floor has executive clubrooms, while the 11th floor has the executive lounge that is equipped with a meeting and dining room. The services and amenities offered on these two floors include airport transfers and laundry service among others, which are included in the room rate. While most hotels have the concept of Happy Hours that have a fixed time period, we go the extra mile and provide our Executive Lounge members to certain discounts with vouchers that can be used at the bar and restaurants at their leisure and convenience during their period of stay at the hotel, in addition to the Happy Hours that we offer,” said Joseph adding that “Unlike other hotels, our base category rooms are 38-square meters, and this is larger than 5-star deluxe category rooms. The rooms are well-equipped, it also has a four-featured bathroom, and the entire hotel is wi-fi enabled and is free,” said Joseph.
Entertainment and Dining:
There are four dining and entertainment options including the Italian ‘Mezzaluna’, the 24-hour ‘My Place’ restaurant, the Japanese ‘Perfect Sky’ lounge and the ‘Obsidian Bar’. “We also have introduced a concept of a 24-hour breakfast, where guests can choose from a fixed breakfast menu at any time of the day,” he added.
Leisure and Fitness:
Sohum Spa features five treatment rooms and an extensive selection of therapies, inspired by traditional Indian, Oriental and European healing techniques. Besides this, there’s also a fitness centre, yoga and meditation rooms and an infinty swimming pool.
A dedicated floor for banqueting facilities includes a grand ballroom and seven meeting venues for social functions, exclusive board meetings and corporate-wide celebrations.
The Mövenpick Dharamshala Resort & Spa, an exclusive 110-room resort in the Northern Indian Kangra Valley is due to open in 2013, and will be the second Indian property.
