Opto Circuits’ Subsidiary, AMDL And Bengaluru International Airport Join Hands To Save Lives

AMDL Health, a leading provider of medical equipment and devices, deployed Powerheart G3 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL). AEDs are life saving devices, which are of immense help to revive victims of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). In such an emergency, since the heart stops beating, without immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), brain damage or death can occur in just four to six minutes. The Powerheart® AED is user friendly, fully automated and designed to guide users through audio instructions, hence no prior training is needed to use one. Innovative technology detects when a shock is required and administers it if necessary.

“Thousands of people pass through the airport each day,” said Vinod Ramnani, CMD, Opto Circuits (India) Ltd. and AMDL, “In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, our AEDs could save the patient till professional medical help arrives.”

“Bangalore International Airport Limited has always placed the need of passengers and airlines at the forefront. The commissioning of AEDs is yet another milestone in that direction. We believe that the installation will immensely improve the survival rate of the sudden cardiac arrest victims at the airport,” said Mr. Bhaskar Bodapati, Director Finance, BIAL.
