PlayBook Sets Its Price at `27,990 (BlackBerry PlayBook)

Research in Motion launched three models of the BlackBerry PlayBook in India on June 23.

The 16 GB model costs `27,990, the 32 GB model costs `32,990, and the 64 GB model costs `37,990. The enterprise-ready seven-inch screen tablet released to mixed reviews when it debuted, and in India, its success depends on the value for money the PlayBook offers when compared to its competitors: The 3G enabled 64 GB iPad2 costs `39,500, the Samsung Galaxy Tab retails for about `24,900, the Dell Streak for `23,900, and the Olive Pad for `14,490. Meanwhile, RIM inadvertently also revealed its three smartphone models – BlackBerry 9360 (Curve), 9810 (Torch 2) and 9850 (Torch Monaco) whilst providing details about BlackBerry OS 7 screen resolutions, and new simulators for platform developers on its blog.
