Revamped Kolkata Airport Will Be Ready By 2012

The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, located in Dum Dum, Kolkata, is the fifth busiest airport in the country and is the largest in eastern India and the only international airport operating in West Bengal with huge prospects of becoming an aviation hub of this region. As the current infrastructure is unable to handle the influx of passengers, the Airport Authority of India has taken up large-scale airport development plans including a new state-of-art integrated airport terminal. This glass-steel structure is being constructed using green building concepts, environment friendly technology and will offer world-class passenger facilities. The terminal shall be ready by the first quarter of 2012 along with upgraded Communications, Navigation and Surveillance Systems for Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM), state-of-the-art air traffic control tower and technical building and Metro rail connectivity from city centre to the airport with check-in facility.
