The Grand Chola Scheme Of Things

The ITC Grand Chola in Chennai, which will soon open its doors to the public, weaves together the strongest cultural elements of Tamil Nadu to give the city its first iconic hotel.

ITC Hotels, which began its foray into hotels with the Chola Sheraton in 1975, is now back with a befitting tribute- the ITC Grand Chola, Chennai’s first 600-room integrated super-premium luxury hotel. Constructed on eight acres of land, with a built-up area of 1,600,000 sq ft- the largest built-up area of any hotel in the country- and one lakh square feet of convention and banqueting space, the property promises to be a destination in itself.

V Prakash, Area Manager Sales & Marketing, Grand Chola, said, “With the largest inventory in the country, the ITC Grand Chola will offer an array of living choices. The four categories of rooms (Executive Club, EVA, Towers, and ITC One), lavish collection of suites, and wing of serviced residences ensure that there is an accommodation choice to fit the needs of any luxury traveller. The Grand Chola has been conceptualised and built in keeping with ITC’s ethos of ‘Responsible Luxury’; delivering the best in luxury whilst enabling planet-positive experiences. Once opened, it will be the largest LEED Platinum certified hotel in the country.” This apart, the hotel will house Raja Raja, the largest Grand Presidential Suite in the state, with a complete ensemble including a private lobby, elevator, gym, and swimming pool. Also, it features Rajendra, the largest pillar-less ballroom in the country, spread across a palatial 30,000 square feet.

For the traveller looking for some rest and rejuvenation, the Kaya Kalp spa, comprising three swimming pools, three gyms, 12 treatment rooms, a yoga studio and a luxury salon, will serve as sweet salvation. The 10 food and beverage destinations, that include signature restaurants like Peshawri and Pan Asian, in addition to new brands like Royal Vega, Ottimo, Tranquebar, Cheroot and ‘I’Place, round up the gastronomic voyage rather well.

For the business traveller, Prakash revealed that the hotel will facilitate luxury through technology. “DigiValet, will ensure you have the room at your fingertips through an iPad, and every guest room has been designed to enable ‘never-before’ technological enhancements.” Also dedicated to the executive, there will be 78 serviced apartments, on offer for long-stay business travellers who travel to Chennai on work for extended periods. Additionally, the hotel will have one of the largest convention centres in India, and the MICE facilities will be top-notch.
