According to news reports, due to incessant rains lashing Kerala for the last 48 hours, operations from the Cochin International Airport has come to a standstill today. The airport has been closed for operations since this morning as its parking bay has submerged due to water logging. Although the airport authorities had informed that airline operations would be restored by afternoon today, the prospects seem bleak considering the bad weather conditions. This morning, flights were diverted to Coimbatore and other airports.
Meanwhile, important tourist destinations in the state, including Munnar, has got cut off from the rest of the state due to heavy landslides in the hill district of Idukki. It has been reported that many tourists are stranded at different places of the state because of heavy rains and landslides.
