The Goa Tourism Department will conduct a three-day roadshow across nine locations, including cities like Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad, and in states like Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, to promote the state as a monsoon destination, according to industry sources. The roadshow will be held some time in May or June this year, said Nikhil Desai, Director Tourism, Government of Goa and Managing Director, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), on the sidelines of the ongoing Shigmo festival in Panaji. In addition, the Department will host the Goa Heritage Festival from April 18-21, 2013 to promote the state’s culture and heritage.
Witnessing a huge inflow of tourists during December every year, the Department wants to draw attention to the state’s scenic offerings during monsoons. Desai said, “Goa is a year-round destination, yet we see maximum number of tourist arrivals in December. Our aim is to create more peak seasons to showcase our state’s divine offerings in all seasons, especially the monsoons.”
