Ministry to liberalise the e-tourist visa rules permitting multiple entry from single entry allowed now and also extending the period of stay to 100 days from 30 days provided at present.
Encouraged with the overwhelming response to the e-tourist visas scheme , the centre has proposed to further liberalise the procedure by introducing multiple entry for foreign nationals besides allowing them to stay for 100 days rather than the 30 days period now offered to them.
Speaking at the inaugural of the 32nd edition of the Indian Association of Tour Operators today, union tourism secretary Vinod Zutshi said the ministry had in – principle agreed to liberalise the e-tourist visa rules permitting multiple entry from single entry allowed now and also extending the period of stay to one humdred days provided at present. It will be matter of time to implement these he added.

A Total of 66, 097 tourists arrived in August 2016 on e-tourist Visa as compared to 22, 286 during the month of August 2015 registering a growth of 196.6%
Commencing from 27th November 2014 e-Tourist Visa facility was available Untill 25th February 2016 for citizens of 113 countries ariving at 16 Airports in India.
