Lemon Tree Hotels have infused their hotel stay experience with a fresh, new service– an exclusive women’s wing that caters to the growing segment of women travellers. In fact, the company noted, 16% of its guests were women travellers. Aiming to create “dedicated spaces within Lemon Tree Hotels for women guests,” this new initiative includes enhanced security in public areas, and near rooms, screening of phone calls, specially designed and decorated rooms with a range of women-oriented amenities such as cosmetics, robes, jewellery boxes, and full-length mirrors.
“We wanted to provide for women’s needs, which we felt were not being catered to by the current market. Also, the goal was for Lemon Tree to become the brand of choice for single women travellers,” said Aradhana Lal, Vice President – Corporate Communications & Sustainability Initiatives, at The Lemon Tree Hotel Company.
Sumitra Senapaty, founder of The WOW Club – Women on Wanderlust, and well-known travel writer who has, quite literally, been there and done that, says of this initiative, “That many traveling women want privacy does not necessarily mean isolation. So hotels ideally should create a hybrid that avoids fencing off a floor for female travelers. One of the things I personally like is a hotel that offers women travellers some special items like skin moisturizers and extra-soft socks, plus a half-hour session in the hotel’s massage chair. Hotels should go the extra mile to make women feel welcome.”
